Flag Day is always an emotional event at BSAK but more so today as we remembered that it was almost 50 years ago that the United Arab Emirates Flag was raised for the first time.
As students watched from their classrooms, Year 13 student Shaikha addressed the whole school 'virtually' with compelling passion. She reminded us that when we raise the flag high we unite to celebrate with honour, the vision and values of the UAE leaders and the endeavour of all the citizens that built this nation.
She went on to explain that the wisdom of our leaders and the sense of belonging to our homeland are all represented in the waving colours of the flag. Red represents bravery, strength and courage. Green stands for hope, joy and optimism, while white conveys peace and honesty, generosity and the humanitarian works of the UAE. Finally the black stands for strength of mind and the resilience of the people.
We wish everyone a very happy UAE Flag Day 2021
