Last week BSAK alumni Anna Graham talked to our Music Scholars about her distinguished musical journey. Her fascinating address covered topics such as her motivation and her preparation for competition and performance. It was followed by a Q&A session and a short performance.
Anna studied at BSAK between 2007-2016 and began learning piano, age 7 with Heidi Liebenberg and then Rami Sarrieddine. In 2015, she won 1st prize at the UAE Chopin competition and the following year, she became Grand Prix Winner at the BSME Young Musician of the Gulf. She moved to Northern Ireland in 2016, to study at the Royal Irish Academy of Music in Dublin under Réamonn Keary, where she achieved 2nd prize at the John Field International piano competition in 2018. The same year, she had the opportunity to perform in New York.
After GCSEs she studied at the Purcell School for Musicians 2019-2021 with Prof. Patsy Toh, and in 2020 was awarded a scholarship for the Royal Academy of Music and began studying there in 2021 with Prof. Mei-Ting Sun. Since then, she’s participated in competitions and most recently, she had the opportunity to perform in The Wigmore Hall. BSAK Music is really proud to have been at the start of Anna's phenomenal musical journey and can’t wait to hear what comes next for this delightful musician - thank you for sharing your wisdom with our Scholars Anna.
