This has been an incredibly exciting week for students in years 7 to 11 at The British School Al Khubairat. All 643 students received an ACER Chromebook, which will now be their digital learning device during lessons and for work outside of class. Headmaster, Mark Leppard MBE, stated in his weekly email to parents that "These devices are a great addition to the resources already available and I believe they will support students with their education."
Chromebook devices are laptops that work within a Google domain, so the devices are far more easily managed by the School, whether they are used during lessons or at home. It will make collaborative work far easier, and will help in assessment and feedback to students. The Chromebooks can also be controlled by each teacher, so that every student is exactly where they should be in their learning.
The British School Al Khubairat is mindful about this move to digital devices, however. Mr. Leppard was keen to point out to parents that these do not replace outstanding teachers, rather they improve how they work to support great learning. Also they are not a replacement for exercise books; students handwriting, answers and essays will always play a crucial part in their school experience.
