Congratulations to Zahra who has been selected for the UAE U17 netball squad, and will be competing in Newcastle, UK, in February.
As a school it gives us so much pleasure to share the stories of our students, who have found a passion and are pursuing it, with dedication. Zahra is a committed sportswoman, with a tenacious 6 day-a week training programme and diverse skills, able to play both defense and attack positions. She belongs to a range of teams, two of which are Dubai based; Dubai Hurricanes (Senior’s league) and London Pulse (Headed by former netball player for England, Amanda Newton). In addition, as a member of the short squad of the UAE, she also trains every other Saturday in Dubai. The recent UAE trials were open to all schools in the UAE and took place over a few weeks. From an initial invitational pool of around 50 girls, the long squad of 20 were chosen, from which the short squad for the UK tour (final 12) was announced last week.
Zahra now also plays with the Falcons (AbuDhabi League) on a Wednesday evening; and when she isn’t playing or training with a team, she has a personal exercise programme of strength and cardio routines. The BSAK Community is very proud of you and wishes you all the best in Newcastle.
