Congratulations Dautari, one of BSAK's music scholars, who has just achieved a Distinction for his Grade 8 on the saxophone, and intends to move on to take his Diploma next year.  We recently caught up with Dautari and you can read his story here: 

I can’t believe I’m now in the Sixth Form studying Maths, Chemistry and Physics, my A Level subjects,  having joined BSAK back in FS2, 2009. In just under 2 years I hope to be at university studying chemical engineering or theoretical physics.  Outside the classroom I love sports, but the biggest part of my life is definitely music. I've been learning the saxophone and guitar since Year 3 and I've gradually moved up the grades since then.

Our music department is incredibly supportive and encouraging and I find it extremely exciting to play with our professional music teachers and other students. I'm currently in a saxophone quartet but you'll usually find me in the senior orchestra, concert band or funky brass. I’m also part of the band for drama productions, live jazz or rock and pop concerts.  I love the competitive side of music too and BSAK is great at organising opportunities to perform or compete.  I've been part of the Young Musicians of the Gulf for several years now and will soon take part in the Abu Dhabi Young Musician competition. 

Throughout my time at BSAK being part of our music community has had an enormous impact on everything I do. My many performance experiences and the way you are made to feel like a valued member of a team, will leave me with a lifelong memory of BSAK and love of music, and because of that I will be playing and joining bands for many years to come.
